WHY IS EVERYONE BAKING BREAD?
Turns out making bread, or any do-it-yourself activity increases happiness. Happiness is essential to counteract anxiety, distraction and lack of energy. Research shows, happiness increases mental focus, energy, creativity and goal orientation.
Scientists call DIY activities which involve your hands (baking, gardening, drawing, woodworking, scrap-booking) “Maker” activities. Maker activities improve mood, task engagement and overall subjective happiness. The opposite it true too; DIY maker activities decrease depression and anxiety.
So when you're feeling mentally foggy and disengaged from a work project....go bake bread!
